Margins (2024) is a provocative generative sculpture by Daniel Canogar that fuses minimalist design with the rawness of streamed media. The work features a sleek metal structure reminiscent of Donald Judd’s precision, with embedded LED shelves that intermittently glow as generative animations are revealed.

The piece explores the boundary between “high” art and everyday screen culture, integrating abstracted clips sourced in real time from streaming platforms—including content ranging from surveillance feeds to adult videos—into its linear framework. Its layered form reflects the fractured nature of visual consumption today: what is seen, what is hidden, and how perception shifts depending on one’s vantage point.

Commissioned as part of a new series confronting minimalism with pop culture’s overflow, Margins invites viewers to renegotiate their relationship with form, content, and the invisible algorithms shaping them. Measuring approximately 104 × 35 × 29 cm, the piece merges metal, electronic components, generative software, real-time data, and an internet connection.
