VESTIGIOS

Galería Juan Silió, Santander, Spain

Vestigios is a solo exhibition by Daniel Canogar shown at Galería Juan Silió in Santander from 8 July to 26 August 2023.

Bringing together works created over the previous three years, the show responds to the fragility of memory, the obsolescence of technology, and the sediment of historical narratives.

Using generative digital techniques, Canogar transforms vast datasets—including news footage, social media flows and abandoned electronics—into layered, abstract landscapes. Works like Zen, Tide and Beat (from the Latencies series) reinvigorate outdated devices, activating the memories they hold .

Other pieces, such as Wayward and Túnica 2 (Pixelweaver series), reprocess photojournalistic imagery via algorithmic filters, conjuring post‑war art techniques like photomontage, while reminding us of the «other side of the screen» .

Produced in collaboration with Galería Max Estrella, Vestigios invites viewers into a rich digital terrain where history, identity and collective memory intersect through computation, data and poetic abstraction .
