CURRENTS

Evangelische Bank, Kassel, Alemania

Currents (2020) is a suspended, generative LED installation by Daniel Canogar, prominently displayed in the atrium of the renovated Evangelische Bank in Kassel, Germany. The piece features flowing LED ribbons that carry real-time data streams—such as financial ticks, weather conditions, or network information—transformed into rhythmic, luminous waves that trace the hidden flows shaping our world.

This immersive work highlights Canogar’s fascination with the unseen infrastructures of modern life. The LEDs respond to live feeds, creating ever-shifting patterns of light and movement that echo natural currents—rivers, energy networks, digital pulses. Meticulously engineered with flexible LED screens, generative software, live data inputs and suspended metal rigging, Currents materialises the invisible through sculptural form.

At approximately 6 m in length and spanning two vertical storeys, the installation brings vitality and a sense of place to the public banking environment. Currents transforms a corporate atrium into a contemplative digital ecosystem, where data becomes visible, poetic, and spatial.
